Essential Experience, Duties and Responsibilities
- Compiles data and analyzes past and current year training requirements, to determine training needs of the organization. Confers with management on program training needs and develops In Service Calendars.
- Assists in formulating training policies, programs and schedules based on knowledge of identified training needs as required by federal and state licensing requirements and will formulate and / or make changes in resident services (e.g., resident’s rights, safety, infection control, body mechanics, lifting techniques).
- Provides or ensures provision of required staff development activity and time as required by Title 22 to the McColl Health Center and any other St. Paul’s facility as assigned.
- Maintain all required records of licenses and certifications for all licensed staff and certified nursing assistants, and checks each one annually for all facilities.
- Ensures required in-services are provided for all CNAs as outlined in Title 22 for SNF and mandatories per regulations for RCFE, Childcare and other necessary areas.
- Will perform skills assessment on Villa, Plaza, MHC, and staff annually.
- Records all in-service training for employee files and sends to Human Resources.
- Selects appropriate instructional procedures or methods such as individual training, group instruction, self-study, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, role play, and computer-based training.
- In collaboration with the Corporate Nurse, organizes and develops training manuals, reference library, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials as needed for the organization.
- In conjunction with the Corporate Nurse, train instructors and supervisory personnel in effective techniques for training such as new employee orientation, on-the-job training, health and safety practices, management development, and adaptations to changes in policies, procedures, and technologies.
- Monitors nursing Quality Assurance (QA) indicators, as necessary, and reports at QA meetings.
- Works in collaboration with the Corporate Nurse and Infection Prevention Nurse to coordinate infection control activities at MHC and throughout the organization.
- Performs other duties assigned by the Corporate Nurse, Human Resources Director, COO, CAO or CEO.
Minimum Qualifications
Must have a current license in the State of California as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse, or equivalent education and training.Must have a current CPR card.Must be accredited by the State of California to conduct orientation and in-service programs, or be willing to become accredited.Education and / or Experience
RN, LVN, or equivalent training from an accredited school and a license to practice nursing or other health related field in the state of California; at least three years related experience including direct care or the chronically ill and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Recommend one year of DSD experience.Must have an understanding of Title 22, federal and local regulations pertaining to health and safety issues.Must have, or be eligible to receive, a DSD certification from the State of California.St. Paul’s Benefits
