American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Pediatric Psychiatric Unit position requiring at least one year of behavioral health nursing experience and a ME or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

Work in a free-standing acute inpatient pediatric psychiatric unitPatient population includes children and adolescents ages 5-18 with diagnoses such as eating disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and oppositional defiant disorderShifts are 7 : 00 AM to 7 : 00 PM with every other weekend requiredRN-to-patient ratios are 1 : 5-6 during the day and 1 : 13 at night with resource supportStaff must be willing to float between pediatric and adult psych units as neededCerner used for charting and Pyxis for medication managementRole may involve care for both voluntary and involuntary admissionsNo forensic patients or inmates; facility is locked for safety but does not detain patients under arrestSeclusion rooms used when necessary for behavioral managementTeam support includes nurse supervisor, manager, charge nurse, psych techs, NP, psychiatrist, OT, and house administratorOnsite training includes MOAB certification during orientationBlock scheduling not guaranteedExpected to work holidays in rotationScrubs in any solid professional color are allowedFree parking providedHeavy snow conditions expected in winterNo travel pairs accepted for the same position\n \n

Active ME or compact RN license requiredMinimum of 1 year behavioral health nursing experience requiredBLS certification requiredPediatric behavioral health experience preferred; candidates without will need manager approvalExperience with de-escalation techniques and physical restraints requiredComfortable running group sessions and handling medication passesMust not have worked in a permanent capacity for any Northern Light Health hospitalFlu vaccination required for start; medical exemptions reviewed for approvalCandidate's permanent address must be 100+ miles south or southwest of Bangor, ME (EMMC)First-time travelers considered\n
