Job Overview :

The Maintenance Technician performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on buildings, mechanical equipment and utility systems. This is an entry level position.

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Complies with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area
• Repairs or replaces defective equipment, components, or wiring
• Reassembles and tests equipment following repairs
• Discusses heating-cooling system malfunctions with users to isolate problems or to verify that malfunctions have been corrected
• Records and reports all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders
• Tests pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks, using pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution
• Inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals; repairs or replaces broken parts
• Replaces broken windows; repairs doors, door locks and closets; installs window blinds
• Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures
• Responds to emergencies as required and trained
• Assists with the renovation / remodeling of buildings; repairs plaster and drywall; paints building structures
• May perform exterior duties such as snow removal, parking lot mechanical repairs.
• May move furniture; assist with production of conference center or amphitheater events
• Cuts and drills holes in floors, walls, and roof to install equipment, using power saws and drills
• Wraps pipes in insulation, securing it in place with cement or wire bands
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
