We are seeking a Studio Manager who can provide leadership and structure to our operations, freeing our principals and design team to focus on creative work while ensuring the studio runs smoothly, efficiently, and profitably.

Position Overview
The Studio Manager oversees the day-to-day operations and long-term systems of the studio , managing finance, HR, IT, facilities, and general administration. This role requires both strategic leadership and hands-on execution , and is best suited to someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and taking ownership.
You will work closely with the Principal to implement best practices, refine workflows, and strengthen the firm’s organizational foundation.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with the Principal to monitor and improve studio productivity, financial health, and overall operations.
- Develop and refine policies, procedures, and workflows to ensure a well-organized and efficient studio.
- Oversee human resources management , including benefits coordination, recruiting, employee policies, and performance review processes.
- Provide leadership in maintaining a positive, professional, and collaborative studio culture .
- Liaise with outside advisors (accounting, HR, IT, insurance) to ensure best practices are implemented.
Operational Management
Financial Management : Oversee AP / AR, invoicing, expense tracking, project financials, and reporting. Collaborate with outsourced accounting services and tax accountants to ensure compliance and accuracy.HR Administration : Draft job descriptions, onboard new staff, coordinate benefits, and manage HR policies. Track performance reviews and staff meetings.Project Support : Assist with project administration including contracts, change orders, applications for payment, permits, and meeting minutes.Executive Support : Provide support to the Principal with scheduling, travel, correspondence, and client-facing communications.IT & Systems : Serve as liaison with outsourced IT providers, oversee software / hardware, and support staff training.Facilities & Studio Care : Maintain a safe, well-supplied, and professional work environment; coordinate with vendors for cleaning, maintenance, and office events.Qualifications
Proven track record in operations, administration, or studio management within a creative, professional services, or luxury client service environment.Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with discretion and professionalism.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software (QuickBooks required; BQE Core experience a plus).Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Familiarity with HR processes, benefits administration, and California employment practices preferred.Work Schedule & Environment
Full-time, on-site in Carmel, CAMonday–Friday, 8 : 30am – 5 : 30pm (40 hours / week)Occasional travel to job sites or vendorsPhysical requirements : sitting and typing for extended periods, light shopping and carrying of items from car to officePhysical effort / lifting : sedentary – may be asked to lift up to 20 pounds.Compensation & Benefits
