Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant supports clinical and administrative operations of the Home Health Agency by assisting nurses, therapists, and physicians while ensuring quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and accurate documentation. This role requires professionalism, organization, and strong communication skills in both English and Spanish.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support:
- Assist RNs, LPNs, and therapists with patient coordination
- Take and record vital signs when permitted
- Prepare patients for skilled visits and procedures
- Perform basic clinical tasks within Florida scope of practice
- Maintain infection control and safety standards
- Ensure medical supplies are stocked and organized
- Support patient education as directed by clinical staff
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule patient visits and coordinate clinician calendars
- Verify insurance, authorizations, and eligibility (Medicare / Medicaid / Managed Care)
- Maintain accurate Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Assist with intake, consents, and patient documentation
- Communicate with physicians' offices for orders and signatures
- Handle phone calls professionally with patients, families, and providers
- Support compliance with HIPAA, AHCA, and Medicare guidelines
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (preferred)
- Medical Assistant Certification (CMA or RMA preferred)
- Bilingual: English & Spanish (required or strongly preferred)
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and home health processes (preferred)
- Experience with EMR systems
