Overview

In accordance with professional standards of care and adhering to the corporate philosophy of OSF Medical Group (OSFMG), the Advanced Practice Nurse / Physician Assistant is responsible for :

• Providing high-quality patient care and a truly personalized, patient-centric experience aligned with each patient’s preferences, goals, and needs
• Primarily inpatient neurosurgery care in a hospital-based setting, including comprehensive neurological assessments, daily rounding, histories and physicals, new consults, admissions, and discharges
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with attending neurosurgeons
• Prepare patients for surgery, manage postoperative care, and support smooth care transitions across the continuum
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory work and imaging, prescribe medications, and document all care provided
• Provide patient and family education to enhance understanding of diagnoses, treatment options, and long-term management plans
• Work closely with nursing, rehabilitation, and other specialty services to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care
• Perform procedures alongside residents
• Exposure to a broad range of acute and complex neurological cases
• Collaborative work environment with neurosurgeons, residents, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary teams
• Two 12-hour shifts per week (5 : 45 AM – 6 : 15 PM), Rotating weekends and holidays as part of the schedule
