JOB PURPOSE
The Manufacturing Systems Unit (MSU) resides in the Smart Factory department in HDMA’s Digital Innovation Division which is on a mission to develop and implement strategies and standards that leads Honda’s manufacturing sites into the next generation automotive products.
Lead the unit in areas of technical growth and understanding providing robust and controlled documents for support. Provide technical judgements for the unit’s systems in areas of research, development and deployment including working with Department Tech Lead on strategies to achieve future direction. Be responsible for Project Management guidance and participation for supporting MSU’s involvement in overall department objectives as well as the diffusion of activity across NA Manufacturing plants to improve business value and plant characteristics.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead long-term planning and implementation of the MSU roadmap, strategy and initiatives ensuring alignment with the department, company and division technical direction
- Support business goal achievement through in-depth technical analysis of systems and infrastructure to be introduced into our production facilities.
- Support the Dept. Technical Lead(s) as the MSU technical expert on large-scale regional and global projects to ensure requirements are met, technical criteria are defined, validated, and evaluated, and consensus is gained within the project team to make the best decision.
- Serve as the first-level evaluator of medium to high complexity for all MSU team technical evaluations ensuring all requirements and technical criteria are considered and achieved.
- Provide Technical support and training for the unit in areas of system updates and judgement of technical output for smart factory initiatives in areas of development and validation of new or updated digital methods
- Support the Manufacturing Systems Unit by providing technical guidance and training for MSU projects to ensure expected results are achievable and aligned with company, business unit and division directives
- Collaborate with associates in the Manufacturing Systems Unit, Manufacturing Management Center and IT to ensure project backlogs are in place and Safe Agile methodology is created and followed for success in the development and deployment of projects
- Support the agile transformation of smart factory value streams within Digital Innovation Division including collaboration with IT and external partners
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experienceMinimum 8 years of relevant experience, in engineering and manufacturingCreate & adjust detailed plans / schedules using Agile methodologyDevelop & present medium to complex proposals for evaluationComfort with digital technology such as manufacturing execution, IoT and AI / MLHigh degree of negotiation & compromise skillsWORKING CONDITIONS
