Job Title : Quality Assurance Technician

Job Description

A Quality Assurance Technician will assist the Quality Assurance Department with quality audits, swabbing, coli form plating, calibrating, antibiotic testing, and various laboratory functions. The role supports and enforces USDA, SQF / QA, GMP, HACCP, and Safety policies and procedures while addressing production needs. The fundamental responsibility of this position is to ensure 'Food Safety and Quality'. In the absence of a Quality Assurance Technician, these responsibilities will be covered by another Quality Assurance Technician or the Quality Assurance Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Perform weekly tasks including environmental swabbing, airplates, and thermometer calibration.
  • Conduct noon and midnight inventory of fluid silos.
  • Monitor wastewater, pH, EC, and COD levels.
  • Execute micro plating, WPN, antibiotic confirmation testing, and TA testing.
  • Send daily samples to DA and Sierra for testing.
  • Pull and re-test customer samples.
  • Maintain cleanliness in lab areas.
  • Complete all paperwork accurately and neatly.
  • File documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).
  • Care for and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Update quality and procedure manuals, calibrations, wastewater reports, and air quality monitoring.
  • Follow all safety and working rules.
  • Foster a harmonious work environment with co-workers, management, customers, vendors, and employees.
  • Maintain a positive attitude contributing to a quality environment.
  • Exhibit excellent regular full-time attendance supporting company objectives.
  • Exercise initiative and judgment in decision-making.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelors Degree in Dairy Science, Food Science, Microbiology, or Associates in similar areas and / or 5 years experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computational skills.
  • Simple math reasoning.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to work safely and efficiently, following all safety procedures including the use of safety equipment.
  • Willingness to ask for assistance when the process is unclear.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to discern when issues require input from higher authority.
  • Must acquire and maintain a the person / Oven Solids Tester license.
  • Certified Industry Supervisor certification on Drug residue testing.
  • Work Environment

    The work environment includes exposure to temperatures ranging from 34 to over 100 degrees. Employees may come into contact with ammonia, acids, caustics, chlorines, paints, particles, oils, lubricants, steam, pneumatics, fumes, and hazardous gases. Personal protective equipment such as hearing protection, bump caps, hair and beard nets, gloves, and eye protection must be used. Proper lifting techniques must be employed. The role requires the ability to work 8-hour to 12-hour shifts and be open to all three shifts, including the 8 pm - 4 : 30 am shift.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pixley, California.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00 / hr.

    This is a fully onsite position in Pixley,CA.
