Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 11 / 24 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, rotating Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical position on a 30-bed overflow unit, requiring a WV or compact RN license and rotation between day and night 12-hour shifts. Responsibilities Work in a 30-bed, acute care hospital medical-surgical overflow unit Cares for adult patients with conditions such as CHF, COPD, cellulitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, AKI, and post-surgical cases Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 6 to 1 : 7 Use of Epic EMR is required Unit includes telemetry monitored remotely by techs Heparin drip titration based on aPTT results is required Intermittent BIPAP use, no ventilator care required Patient care technicians (PCTs) are present on the unit Rotating 12-hour day and night shifts with weekends scheduled as needed Floating as needed, with external travelers floated first Navy blue scrubs required Holiday and weekend coverage is required as scheduled No on-call or standby requirements No vent management but some BIPAP responsibilities Travelers may be floated based on census needs Local candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility Former WVU Medicine employees must have a 2-year break before returning as a traveler and may not work over 1 year cumulatively before requiring a 2-year break Previous employment at Princeton Community, Potomac Valley, or Garrett Regional as permanent staff precludes traveler eligibility First-time travelers are accepted unless otherwise specified Requirements Active WV or compact RN license required Minimum of 2 years recent med / surg nursing experience Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required Experience with Epic EMR preferred Must be comfortable with a nurse-to-patient ratio up to 1 : 7 Must provide a copy of valid, unexpired driver’s license for consideration Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-634738.
