Position Summary :
We are seeking an experienced and analytical Commercial Insurance Underwriter to join our team in Macon, GA . The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of underwriting experience with a strong background in insurance captives , workers’ compensation , and commercial auto lines. This role is critical to our continued growth and will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting complex commercial risks while maintaining profitable underwriting practices and strong broker relationships.
Key Responsibilities :
- Underwrite and analyze new and renewal submissions for workers’ compensation , general / commercial auto , and captive programs .
- Evaluate risk characteristics, loss history, financials, and industry hazards to determine appropriate pricing, terms, and coverage.
- Collaborate closely with brokers, agents, and internal stakeholders to drive profitable growth and maintain strong relationships.
- Prepare detailed underwriting recommendations and documentation for approval as needed.
- Ensure underwriting decisions comply with company guidelines, state regulations, and industry best practices.
- Monitor portfolio performance and adjust strategies based on risk trends and market conditions.
- Assist in the development and refinement of underwriting processes, rating models, and program guidelines.
- Participate in underwriting audits and contribute to internal training and mentoring initiatives.
Qualifications :
5+ years of commercial underwriting experience with a strong focus on insurance captives , workers' compensation , and commercial auto .Proven ability to analyze risk and make sound underwriting decisions in a fast-paced environment.Deep understanding of state-specific regulations and compliance requirements, especially in the Southeast region.Experience working with brokers and agents in both regional and national markets.Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.Proficient in underwriting tools and systems; familiarity with industry-standard platforms is a plus.Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).Insurance designations (e.g., CPCU, ARM, AU) are a plus but not required.What We Offer :
