POSITION SUMMARY : The Lead Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for supporting all aspects of plant operations, maintenance, equipment repair, and safety. This role combines oversight of maintenance and plant staff with hands-on support to ensure operational efficiency, equipment reliability, safety compliance, and adherence to the company’s Quality Management System.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
QUALIFICATIONS :
1. High School Diploma or GED required; Technical or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
2. 5+ years of relevant maintenance or plant operations experience required; supervisory experience strongly preferred.
3. Welding, fabrication, crane, and forklift operation experience required.
4. Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
5. MSHA certification and experience in an ISO or Quality Management System environment are highly desirable.
6. First Aid and CPR certification required (or ability to obtain).
7. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES :
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY :
Strong communication skills required to manage maintenance team and communication with Plant manager to ensure safe and timely completion of necessary maintenance operations.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
1. Will work in a plant and crushing yard environment with regular exposure to heat, humidity, inclement weather, excessive noise, electrical hazards and hazardous materials, including products, chemicals, components, and tools used in the repair and maintenance of plant equipment, and work in confined spaces, when and as needed.
2. On call availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to proactively respond to the Company’s operational needs; must be available by cell phone when scheduled to be on call.
3. Willingness and ability to work additional hours during the week and / or weekend, including 10-12 hour shifts.
4. Overtime is regularly required.
