The Associate Engineer is responsible for overseeing activities related to the distribution design process, working closely with supervisors and designers to ensure the safe and reliable operation of electrical distribution systems. This role involves analyzing system load conditions, evaluating proposals for system reinforcement, and providing support during contingencies and storms. The Associate Engineer will also be involved in analyzing power quality issues and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.

• Core Responsibilities :
• Ensure adherence to safety regulations and environmental protection in system designs.
• Collaborate with local designers to design and reinforce electrical distribution systems.
• Provide instruction and guidance for service determination and construction layouts.
• Review and approve distribution layouts, B&A’s, and feeder sequences.
• Ensure plans and drawings comply with operating procedures and specifications.
• Prepare documents for major projects and assist in Capital Budget preparation.
• Monitor project progress to ensure timely completion within budget.
• Establish and maintain tracking reports for performance metrics.
• Evaluate feeder ratings and impact of new business projects on equipment.
• Analyze distribution reliability and evaluate proposed projects.
• Supervise use of computer applications for engineering tasks.
• Assess training needs and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct root cause analysis of outages and identify improvement opportunities.
• Track and update distribution maps and diagrams within deadlines.
• Provide support during storms, contingencies, or customer outages.
• Monitor and provide engineering analysis during emergency events.
• Represent the company in meetings with stakeholders.
• Perform additional tasks as required.
• Qualifications :
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Energy, Math, Physics, or Computer Science.
• Experience working with a unionized workforce.
• Knowledge of programming languages is desirable.
• Experience with engineering-related projects and distribution electrical equipment.
• Understanding of various computer systems and software applications, including Work Management System, Logica, and Demand Aggregator.
• General knowledge of engineering drawings and map reading.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and technical skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact diplomatically with internal and external stakeholders at various levels of management.

Pay : $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
