Job Overview :

As a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality diagnostic services in a busy, fast-paced laboratory environment. You will be responsible for providing expert microbiological testing and analysis, contributing to patient care and supporting clinical teams with critical laboratory results.

Key Responsibilities :

• Perform a wide range of microbiological tests, including bacterial, viral, and parasitology cultures, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and other diagnostic procedures.
• Interpret microbiological results and provide advice to medical staff regarding appropriate treatment options.
• Maintain high-quality standards, ensuring that all laboratory procedures comply with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 15189, UKAS, etc.).
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of results, handling both routine and urgent cases with precision.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff and trainees, providing guidance and support to enhance their learning and professional development.
• Contribute to audits, quality assurance processes, and the continuous improvement of laboratory practices.
• Participate in on-call and weekend rotas, as required.
