Responsibilities Position is in an 18-bed Med / Surg Acute Care unit within an acute care setting Typical patient ratios are 4-5 : 1 on days and 5-6 : 1 on nights Provides care for general medical patients with various diagnoses Heparin drips are titrated by RNs as needed Remote telemetry department monitors patients requiring telemetry, using primarily Philips equipment Work schedule is 12-hour night shifts (1900–0700), three shifts per week with every other weekend and holiday rotation Floating to other units is required, with travelers given first priority Uses the EPIC charting system Travel RNs receive a 12-hour shift unit-specific orientation with a preceptor Patient care techs assist on the unit, with two PCTs per shift and a ratio of 9 : 1 when the unit is full Charge RN and house supervisor are available 24 / 7; charge RN may have a patient assignment RNs may need to start IVs; inpatient phlebotomy team assists with blood draws Hospitalist, intensivist, RT, and pharmacy support available 24 / 7 Scrubs of any color may be worn, but staff must provide their own and pediatric scrubs are not permitted No radius rule for candidates; local rates apply for those within 50 miles Requirements Active IL RN license required at time of consideration BLS certification from the American Heart Association required Minimum of 1 year hospital RN experience preferred Experience titrating drips, specifically Heparin Ability to work 12-hour night shifts including weekends and holidays Comfortable with EPIC electronic medical record system Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-624027.
