Transamerica is organized into three distinct businesses. Job Description Summary

Design, deliver, and administer specialized training in life, annuity, and health underwriting covering analysis techniques, risk assessment, modeling, and tools and technology used to interpret and apply criteria for accurate risk assessments. Implement career development and engagement programs to improve the employee experience.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead training / upskilling of consultant level underwriters and above, including management.
  • Lead the administration and coordination of training schedules and program materials.
  • Apply best practices in curriculum design and delivery to department staff and stakeholders in alignment with industry and company requirements.
  • Develop clear and measurable learning criteria for different levels of underwriting knowledge and technical expertise.
  • Keep current on regulatory rules, product offerings, and technology advances. Share insights through group and individual training.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training / identify gaps and collaborate with management on ways to enhance the learning experience.
  • Assess team needs to identify and create opportunities for career development and employee engagement.
  • Participate in or lead cross-functional projects / programs requiring the high level underwriting expertise.
  • Provide guidance to team members as needed.

Qualifications

  • Eight years of underwriting experience in the insurance / financial services industry
  • FLMI, FALU, or CLU certification, or significant progress toward obtaining designation
  • Skilled in underwriting training or project / process management in a corporate environment
  • Outstanding written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information in a learning environment
  • Strong documentation and writing / editing skills
  • Creative thinker and collaborator to design engaging learning and development programs
  • Proficiency using MS Office
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or finance
  • Working Conditions

  • Work remote from home
  • The salary for this position generally ranges between $98,000-$121,000 annually. Please note that the salary range is a good faith estimate for this position and actual starting pay is determined by several factors including qualifications, experience, geography, work location designation (in-office, hybrid, remote) and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.

    Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus of 15% based on the Company Bonus Plan / Individual Performance and is at the Company's discretion.
