Cleveland Clinic Akron General Physician Office Building offers one of the largest multispecialty centers in the Akron area and all Northeast Ohio, aimed at diagnosing and treating conditions of the heart and blood vessels. Uncovering the cause of symptoms or a serious event, such as a heart attack, is our initial step in creating a customized plan of care to help our patients heal and get back to the life they enjoy. We offer a full range of heart and vascular disease testing services, in multiple locations to meet patients needs.

As a medical assistant in our cardiology department, you will be responsible for taking medical histories, explaining procedures to patients, collecting and preparing specimens for the lab or performing basic laboratory tests themselves, administering or instructing patients on the proper uses of medications, drawing blood, taking electrocardiograms, removing sutures, and changing dressings. This role provides the opportunity to gain exposure to complex medical issues, helping to advance your skills in a specialized field. Ultimately, all your work helps ensure the best possible health and treatment outcomes.

A caregiver in this position works days from 8 : 00 a.m. 5 : 00 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will :

• Assist with performing screenings and treatments by gathering and updating information related to health maintenance, identifying medication changes, updating allergy information, collecting specimens, performing tests and documenting patient care.
• Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
• Administer specific medications under the direction of the provider.
• Maintain equipment, medical supplies and examination areas.
• Perform administrative / clerical duties, such as filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.
