Controller

Creative Financial Staffing has been exclusively retained by a high-growth publicly-traded company to identify a Controller to join their team. The Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting and finance operations to ensure accrual financial reporting, partnering closely with the CFO and the CEO.

The ideal Controller has strong accounting and SEC reporting experience, public accounting audit background, and deep knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.

This position is 90% Remote with traveling onsite to the Virginia office once / quarter so ideal candidates need to be local to the DMV area.

Controller Key Responsibilities :

Oversee general ledger, AP / AR, payroll, and monthly close

Prepare and review SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K) and GAAP-compliant financials

Strengthen internal controls and ensure SOX compliance

Coordinate external audits and liaise with national audit firms

Support ERP system implementation and financial tool optimization

Partner with CFO on planning, budgeting, and variance analysis

Mentor junior staff and drive process improvements

Controller Qualifications :

Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or related field

CPA preferred

7-10+ years in accounting, including public accounting

Experience in public company environments and financial transformation

Proven SEC reporting and GAAP compliance expertise

Strong ERP and Excel skills
