SUMMARY
Family Service League is seeking a per-diem Advocate for a homeless shelter in Port Jefferson Station, NY. The Advocate will be responsible for conducting client assessments and assisting clients in achieving self- sufficiency through advocacy, counseling, and resource referrals. The Advocate will perform client intakes, unit and perimeter checks and overall support for clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
Prior experience in Human Service preferred.
Prior experience working in a homeless shelter preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills required.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office required.
Valid and clean NYS Driver's License required.
Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, overnight, or weekends.
Flexibility to work at different sites is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to go up and down stairs.
