Job description

Education Consultant Supervisor

This is a promotional opportunity, open only to current permanent classified employees of the Louisiana Department of Education. This position is located in Baton Rouge, LA. The Education Consultant Supervisor in the Office of Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence across the Louisiana Department of Education. This position leads agency-wide efforts in contracts, procurement, grants administration, and process improvement, ensuring that systems and procedures meet state and federal requirements while supporting the Department's mission. Serving as a strategic partner to every office within LDOE, the Supervisor provides direction on complex procurement and contracting, oversees performance measurement, and advances initiatives that strengthen efficiency, compliance, and impact for Louisiana's students, educators, and communities.

Preferred experience :

  • Demonstrated experience leading contracts, procurement, grants administration, or compliance functions in a state agency, school system, higher education institution, or similarly complex organization.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations related to education, procurement, and grant management.
  • Proven track record in process improvement, organizational efficiency, and operational quality initiatives.
  • Experience supervising teams and providing strategic direction across multiple workstreams.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively across diverse offices and stakeholder groups.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and performance measurement to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.

Minimum qualifications :

Eight years of experience in administrative services; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus five years of experience in administrative services; OR A bachelor's degree plus five years of experience in administrative services; OR An advanced degree plus four years of experience in administrative services. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION : Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job duties :

  • Oversee contracts, procurement, and grants administration, ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to program offices on operational policies and procedures.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, streamline workflows, and reduce redundancies across the agency.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on performance metrics to track operational effectiveness and inform decision-making.
  • Collaborate with all LDOE offices, including Teaching and Learning, Early Childhood, Assessments, Career and College Readiness, School System Relations, and Legal.
  • Supervise and provide strategic direction to staff, fostering professional growth and accountability.
  • Develop and update internal policies, procedural guidance, and documentation to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Represent the Office of Operations in cross-office projects, leadership briefings, and external meetings as needed.
  • Position-specific details :

    Appointment Type : This position may be filled by promotion, open to current permanent classified employees of the Louisiana Department of Education. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected. Career Progression : This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group. Work Schedule : Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined. Compensation : The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Note regarding the advertised pay range : The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
