Senior Data Engineer - Position Summary :
As a Senior Data Engineer at Delta Defense, you have the unique opportunity to take on a leadership role that directly supports our mission of saving more lives through relevant analytics. As a vital member of our cross-functional team, you provide hands-on technical leadership in creating cutting-edge data and process strategies.
In this key role, you'll advance the development of our Enterprise Data Warehouse, delivering a business-focused technology solution that enables comprehensive reporting of key performance indicators, metrics, and insights. You will lead complex projects, mentor junior team members, and champion innovation in data engineering practices.

Senior Data Engineer - Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Data Pipeline Architecture - Architect and develop data pipelines to optimize data quality, performance, and scalability.
- Data Infrastructure Design - Design and build systems and infrastructures to collect and process data, ensuring creation of clean, tested, and reusable datasets ready for analysis.
- Data Transformation Standards - Establish standards for data transformations, ensuring adherence to rules and requirements for data formats and attributes.
- Data Quality Standards - Establish standards for data quality, including data profiling methodologies, to maintain and enhance data integrity.
- Engineering Best Practices - Implement engineering best practices around CI / CD, unit testing, performance testing, and optimization.
- Collaboration with Data Architecture - Partner directly with the Data Architecture team to ensure quality and consistency of the data model.
- Data Infrastructure Utilization - Leverage existing data infrastructure to fulfill data-related requests, perform data housekeeping, cleansing, normalization, hashing, and implement necessary data model changes.
- Data Analysis and Troubleshooting - Analyze data to identify anomalies, trends, and correlations between datasets. Troubleshoot problems, identify solutions, and resolve issues accordingly.
- PII and Risk Adherence - Apply best practices related to Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and adhere to Risk policies and standards set by the organization.
- Leadership and Mentorship - Serve as a leader for junior team members, providing guidance and mentorship in their development.
- Additional Responsibilities - Perform all other duties as assigned to support the organization's goals and operational efficiency.
Senior Data Engineer - Required Skills / Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent.Bachelor's degree preferred in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science / Analytics, statistics, or equivalent relevant experience.5+ years of experience in data engineering required .2+ years dbt experience required.5+ years of SQL experience.2+ years of experience within a business intelligence role desired.Ability to work efficiently with AWS cloud technologies such as S3, EMR required.3+ years experience in Agile SDLC.Solid understanding of ETL / ELT methodologies.Proficiency with Git and CI / CD workflows (GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Circle CI).3+ years demonstrated experience writing clean, efficient, & well-documented Python code.Solid understanding of industry standards in analytical data modeling technique.Preferred experience in Data Vault.Demonstrates the Core Values of Delta Defense, LLC.Why YOU should Work at Delta Defense!

Target salary range $112,000 - $135,000 based on experience. This role is also bonus-eligible for company incentive plan.
