Assumed Claims Role
Reporting to a Manager, this role handles assumed claims, including identification of coverage and liability issues, claim evaluation, establishment of adequate reserves, and transaction processing.
Essential Functions :
- Handles moderate to high volume of low to moderately complex assumed claims effectively.
- Directly handles and / or assists in monitoring, reviewing, and coordinating the activities involving assumed reinsurance claims, including analysis of reinsurance contracts, and underlying direct coverage issues, establishment of adequate reserves, payment as appropriate and the resolution and closure of claims.
- Operates effectively in Company and Departmental systems.
- Operates independently with moderate management oversight of day-to-day functions.
- Coordinates and manages workload so day to day claim handling functions remain prioritized.
- Provides recommendations on reserves and payments.
- Interacts with cedants and brokers in the investigation of assumed claims.
- Participates in settlement negotiations in coordination with management.
- Prepares written reports as necessary.
- Assists in reporting to retrocessionaires and supporting the Reinsurance Department's collections.
- Serves on Companywide committees and projects as assigned.
- Works to continuously improve RiverStone's business processes / systems.
- Consistently delivers superior customer service to both internal and external business partners.

Assumed and / or direct claims handling, legal or financial services experience preferred.
Required Education :
Four-year college degree required or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Education or Certification :
JD, CPCU, SCLA, CCLA
Supervisory Role :
Schedule, assign, and review the work of others in compliance with specific instructions.
Travel :
As required, based upon business needs.
Work Environment / Physical Demands :
This position operates in a professional, collaborative environment and must have the ability to timely produce thorough, accurate work with many competing demands, deadlines, and distractions. The position uses standard equipment such as phones, computers, copiers / printers and filing cabinets. Noise level is moderate.
