Registered Nurse (RN) PACU / Pre-Op | Ambulatory Surgery Center

Location : Washington, DC

Schedule : MondayFriday, 7 : 00 AM 3 : 00 PM (Day Shift)

Hours : 40 hours per week

Contract Type : Contract

Pay Rate : $67 / hour

On-Call : Required

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced PACU / Pre-Op Registered Nurse (RN) for an Ambulatory Surgery Center in Washington, DC . This position offers a daytime schedule and the opportunity to provide exceptional care to patients before and after surgical procedures.

Ideal candidates will have strong critical thinking skills , the ability to work independently , and experience managing complex patients comparable to those seen in a Level I Trauma Center . This is not a surgicenter-level position; the acuity and complexity of patients are significantly higher.

Responsibilities

• Monitor post-operative patients recovery and consciousness levels from anesthesia.
• Obtain and document vital signs accurately and in a timely manner.
• Observe patients for any adverse reactions to anesthesia or medications.
• Manage and treat post-operative symptoms such as pain and nausea.
• Administer medications as prescribed and per protocol.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date EMR charting and medical records.
• Educate patients and families on post-surgical care, discharge instructions, and follow-up needs.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Required Certifications :

Basic Life Support ( BLS )

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support ( ACLS )
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support ( PALS )
• Highly Desired Certifications :

Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse ( CPAN )

• Trauma Nursing Core Course ( TNCC )
• Critical Care Registered Nurse ( CCRN )
• Licensure :

Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington, DC

• Experience :

Minimum 2 years of recent PACU / Pre-Op experience

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience ( required for PACU experience consideration )
• Experience in a Level I trauma center or similar high-acuity environment preferred
• Education :

Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program Required

• BSN Highly desired
