About the Role :

Dunwoody Christian School’s Swim Coach is an energetic, creative, Godly instructor within our school's athletic program. The Swim Coach has a passion for swimming and a commitment to excellence, while ensuring the swim program is conducted in alignment with the school's mission and values. The Swim Coach plays a pivotal role in developing swimmers' skills, techniques, and overall performance within an educational setting. This position is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive training programs tailored to swimmers of varying ages and skill levels, ensuring their physical and mental growth in the sport. The coach will foster a Christ-centered and motivating environment that encourages discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Additionally, the Swim Coach will monitor athletes' progress, provide constructive feedback, and prepare them for competitive events while prioritizing safety. Ultimately, this role aims to cultivate confident, skilled swimmers who achieve their personal best and develop a lifelong appreciation for swimming.

We believe that the role of the Swim Coach is to demonstrate, through leadership and lifestyle, his or her personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a consistent reflection of Godly character, and a heart to meet the needs of young people.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Certification in swim coaching from a recognized national or international body.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching swimmers across multiple age groups and skill levels.
  • Strong knowledge of swimming techniques, training methodologies, and competition rules.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field.
  • Experience coaching competitive swim teams at the regional or national level.
  • Familiarity with aquatic facility management and safety protocols.
  • Responsibilities :

  • Develop and execute structured swim training plans that address technique, endurance, speed, and strength.
  • Conduct regular practice sessions, providing individualized coaching and corrective feedback to swimmers.
  • Assess swimmers’ progress through observation and performance metrics, adjusting training as needed.
  • Ensure all activities comply with safety standards and promote injury prevention.
  • Organize and prepare swimmers for local, regional, and national competitions, including strategy and mental preparation.
  • Collaborate with parents, educators, and other staff to support swimmers’ holistic development.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance, and health status of all athletes.
  • Promote a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, commitment, and continuous improvement.
  • Skills :

    The Swim Coach utilizes technical knowledge of swimming mechanics and training principles daily to design effective practice sessions that enhance athlete performance. Strong communication skills are essential for delivering clear instructions, motivating swimmers, and collaborating with parents and staff. Analytical skills are applied to monitor progress and adapt training plans based on individual needs and competition goals. Leadership and interpersonal skills foster a supportive, Christ-centered and disciplined team environment that encourages personal growth and resilience. Additionally, organizational skills ensure efficient management of schedules, records, and compliance with safety standards, contributing to a professional and productive coaching program.
