Support Students’ Academic & Social-Emotional Success
The Children’s Center of Hamden is seeking a dedicated School Social Worker for our Whitney Hall School program. In this role, you’ll provide clinical services, counseling, and case management to support students’ social-emotional and academic success. You’ll collaborate with treatment teams, families, and outside agencies to remove non-academic barriers to learning and ensure students receive the support they need to thrive.

As School Social Worker , you will :
Provide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and therapeutic support to studentsConduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) aligned with PPT recommendations.Maintain caseloads and collaborate with teachers, families, and treatment teams to remove barriers to learning.Participate in diagnostic, case review, and discharge conferences; communicate with outside agencies including DCF, school districts, juvenile courts, and community resources.Support students’ social-emotional and behavioral goals, ensuring compliance with IEPs and relevant legal requirements.Maintain timely and accurate documentation of student progress, interventions, and crisis events.Provide emergency support as needed, including off-campus assistance (e.g., accompanying students to medical or behavioral health evaluations).Demonstrate cultural sensitivity, uphold professional boundaries, and contribute to a safe and respectful environment.Perform other duties as assigned to support program success.What We’re Looking For
Holds or is immediately eligible to obtain Connecticut School Social Worker Certification (#071)Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.Knowledge of special education law, IEP processes, and social-emotional interventions.Experience providing therapeutic services in school or youth settings.Strong crisis intervention, risk assessment, and problem-solving skills.Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with families and interdisciplinary teams.Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to perform light to moderate lifting, standing, walking, bending, and other physical tasks as needed.Potential exposure to bodily fluids and other environmental hazards in a school-based settingJoin Our Team
