Senior Automation Project Engineer - Medical Devices

Job Summary

To conceive and introduce new material handling and precision automated assembly lines for medical device manufacturing, we're looking to add a Senior Manufacturing Automation Project Engineer - Medical Devices located in Buffalo Grove, IL.

What a typical day looks like :

• Understands customer requirements and leads development of effective manufacturing processes and automation solutions.
• Manages medium and larger automation projects in a medical device environment.
• Develops and presents project business and financial justifications.
• Responsible for leading the specification, engineering and implementation of new material handling and Assembly automation equipment in a medical device manufacturing environment.
• Responsible for leading the conception, specification or design and implementation of modifications and improvements of existing material handling and assembly automation equipment in a medical device environment.
• Lead the collaboration of key stakeholders to develop requirements and specifications for new equipment or modifications to existing equipment.
• Manage and coordinate equipment vendors starting with design through SAT.
• Manage validation for medical device assembly systems, including validation execution.
• Manage the development of technical manuals, drawings, models, training documentation, preventative maintenance plans and troubleshooting guides for automated equipment and automated processes.
• Troubleshooting support during machine commissioning and ramp up, as well as occasional support of existing operations in areas where Subject Matter Expert is needed.
• Lead root cause analysis & drive for permanent corrective actions.
• Work with vendors, plant maintenance and reliability engineering to ensure all new and updated automation equipment has appropriate spare parts, and a robust Preventive Maintenance plan.
