  • Jim Riehl's Friendly Automotive Group is looking for a payroll specialist to help run all 5 of our dealerships weekly payroll. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, a good team person that can work well with our various office managers, department managers, and employees. We have roughly 365 employees that are paid hourly, commissions, and or salaried every week. We currently use CDK as our DMS system and ADP for our in house payroll software. You would work out of our Warren location but do payroll for all our locations, Warren, Romeo, Lapeer, Clinton Twp., and Charlevoix. The ideal candidate will bring expertise, process, and energy to this hands-on role and be well-organized, proactive and a self-starter.

    Responsibilities you will own :

    Run & own weekly payroll for the five locations.

    Ensure all new hires are entered appropriately into ADP.

    Check with Supervisors regarding time exceptions / adjustments.

    Design processes & systems that help ensure accuracy & best practices in processing payroll & maintaining employee records.

    Enter garnishments, medical deductions, and other employee deductions.

    Perform daily data entry with timely and accurate updates of new hires, status changes, tax withholdings, benefits deductions, time off accruals, etc.

    Maintain accurate information in ADP and audits payroll information for accuracy.

    Troubleshoot problems with paychecks, tax deductions, timecard issues, and other payroll related matters and respond accordingly to employee inquiries.

    Respond to questions from employees regarding paychecks, direct deposit and / or general payroll questions in a timely manner.

    Provide the best-in-class service experience for corporate clients, employees, and other stakeholders.

    Review time off requests for accuracy and approval.

    Stay informed of key dates and important deadlines.

    Prepare relevant records for management on a monthly, quarterly, and year-end basis.

    Collaborate with Human Resources to maintain employee data.

    What we are looking for :

    Three or more years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-volume transaction environment

    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor

    High degree of organization and attention to detail

    Strong oral and written communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences.

    Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion

    Working knowledge of a payroll system (we use ADP Workforce Now), productivity software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
