Job Description\n

American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for an ICU assignment requiring ICU experience and expertise in titrating critical drips.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a 4-bed ICU in an acute care community hospital
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 2
  • Patient population includes DKA, septic shock, ETOH withdrawal, hypoxemia, ARDS, and Covid cases
  • Commonly titrate drips including propofol, levophed, dobutamine, precedex, fentanyl, insulin, esmolol, versed, and ketamine
  • Use of Mindray and telemetry monitoring; must be able to read and interpret tele strips
  • Charting system is Epic
  • Shift is 12 hours, nights, 7 : 00pm to 7 : 30am
  • Work every other weekend with potential for holiday rotation
  • Floating to IMCU or MS required and may include full patient assignment; with ED experience, may float to ED or act as helping hands
  • Orientation includes 1-2 shifts with a preceptor
  • Charge nurse does not take a patient assignment unless necessary and oversees ICU, IMCU, and MS on the same floor
  • Shared nurse aids and support staff available on the unit
  • Hospitalist present 24 / 7, with intensivist in-house M-F 8-5 and telemedicine support after hours and weekends
  • Respiratory therapist is available in the facility 24 / 7 and assists with ICU care
  • Required to wear any color scrubs; no visible face tattoos and natural hair colors only
  • Holiday shifts may be required if they fall on a scheduled shift
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

  • Active OR RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience
  • Certifications required : BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS; TNCC and PALS preferred
  • Must be proficient in titration and administration of critical care drips
  • Experience with Epic EMR preferred
  • Must be comfortable with limited resources typical of a small community hospital
