Accountant I / II
The County of San Mateo is conducting a recruitment for two Accountants I / II. Human Services Agency, Financial Services Branch, and Claiming section is seeking qualified candidates for the Accountant I / II positions. In general, accountants perform complex professional accounting work relative to departmental procedures and records and exercise independent judgment on financial transactions and processes. Requirements : This classification requires the successful completion of a minimum of twelve (12) "semester" units of college-level accounting coursework. To convert quarter units divide by 1.5; eighteen (18) quarter units are equivalent to twelve (12) semester units.
Experience and Education : Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is :

Current County of San Mateo and County of San Mateo Superior Court of California employees with at least six months (1040 hours) of continuous service in a classified regular, probationary, or extra-help / limited term position prior to the final filing date will receive five points added to their final passing score on this examination.
The examination process will consist of an application screening (pass / fail) based on the candidate's application and responses to the supplemental questions. Candidates who pass the application screening will be invited to take a standard, multiple-choice Civil Service Computer-Based Written Examination (weight : 100%). Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. All examinations will be given in San Mateo County, California, and applicants must participate at their own expense. Qualified applicants will be notified via email, which will include the link to take the Computer-based Written Exam. Please make sure to read your notices carefully.
