Detention Officer

Pay Rate : $23.41 per hour

Sign-On Bonus :

  • Up to $3,000 for new employees hired between August 1, 2025 – November 30, 2025
  • Rehire employees are eligible if their most recent break in service is six months or more

Position Overview

The Detention Officer performs routine duties in accordance with established policies, regulations, and procedures to :

  • Maintain order, safety, and security of residents in a correctional facility.
  • Provide direct supervision of inmates / residents in housing units, at meals, during recreation, on work assignments, and throughout all phases of daily activity.
  • Work in a variety of areas, including but not limited to : housing units, kitchen, medical, visitation, armory, and key control.
  • Employ force or authorized weapons, if necessary, to maintain discipline and order.
  • Be available to work any post assignment on any shift

    • Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Must complete pre-service correctional officer training and, where applicable, hold a state-required non-commissioned security officer license.
  • Valid driver's license with a clear driving record.
  • Ability to complete all required training to meet contract requirements and standards.
  • Minimum age : 18 years old
