The role you'll contribute :

\n \n\n \n

Functions as a member of the medical care management team. Provides medical treatment under the supervision of the attending physician. This medical care will be provided within the framework of the hospital's medical staff privilege delineation criterion.

\n \n\n \n

The Surgical Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Surgical Physician's Assistant (PA) provides self-directed, effective care to groups of patients and other duties as assigned in accordance with Division of Services standards.

\n \n\n \n

The observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care; health teaching and counseling of the ill, injured, or infirmed; and the promotion of wellness, maintenance of health and prevention of illness and others.

\n \n\n \n

The administration of medication and treatments as prescribed or authorized by a duly licensed practitioner authorized by the laws of this state to prescribe such medications and treatments.

\n \n\n \n

The supervision and teaching of other personnel in the theory and performance of any of the above acts.

\n \n\n \n

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

\n \n\n \n

Assists staff in the delivery of patient care : assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

\n \n\n \n

Demonstrates knowledge of hospital, division, and unit Standards of Care and Practice by serving as a resource person to nurses and physicians during assigned shift.

\n \n\n \n

Ensures compliance with core measure / HCAHPS composite benchmarks.

\n \n\n \n

Documentation meets criteria for core measure, charges, PI, and all quality / regulatory standards as measured by chart audits.

\n \n\n \n

Assists in completing, monitoring, and evaluation of unit-based Performance Improvement activities.

\n \n\n \n

Keeps abreast of pertinent changes related to clinical information from CMS and other regulatory agencies.

\n \n\n \n

Initiates orders with physician countersign.

\n \n\n \n

Collection of comprehensive data pertinent to the patients health / situation and unit specific data for process improvement initiatives including initial patient assessment within expected timeframe, initiates consults as indicated from database collection, identifies patient / family teaching and discharge planning needs.

\n \n\n \n

Analyzes the assessment data to determine expected outcomes and plan of care

\n \n\n \n

Evaluates progress toward attainment of expected patient outcomes and unit specific process improvement outcomes daily with patient, family, and health team members.

\n \n\n \n

Demonstrates safe practice in the administration of medications.

\n \n\n \n

Ensures safe and effective handoff communications and documentation of such between care givers.

\n \n\n \n

Demonstrates sensitivity to pain management by alleviating and reducing pain to level acceptable to patient.

\n \n\n \n

Integrates ethical decision making into daily nursing practice

\n \n\n \n

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

\n \n\n \n

Physician Assistant License and Certification

\n \n\n \n2 years experience in specialty area upon hire Required\n \n\n \n

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :

\n \n\n \n

Valid American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS Certifications

\n \n\n \n

NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)

\n \n\n \n
