Job Details
The Senior Heavy Civil Construction Manager will lead all phases of construction on a multi-billion-dollar high-speed rail project in California. Based onsite in the Central Valley, the manager will direct a cross-disciplinary team and coordinate with the design-builder, state agencies, and program stakeholders. This role demands proven leadership in large-scale transportation infrastructure projects with a deep understanding of construction management best practices.
Key Responsibilities :
Lead field operations, safety compliance, and scheduling
Manage contractor execution against project specs, plans, and budgets
Serve as primary point-of-contact for client interface and coordination
Ensure all work aligns with Caltrans structures processes, permits, and environmental requirements
Provide leadership in conflict resolution, team performance, and third-party negotiations
Oversee multiple scopes : earthworks, structures, utilities, grade separations, and environmental compliance
Prepare status reports and advise on critical project milestones
15+ years in Project / Construction Management of large-scale ($1B+) heavy civil projects, ideally in rail
Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience
Familiarity with Caltrans processes and California permitting requirements
Deep field experience in heavy civil construction, including self-perform operations
Expertise in scheduling and cost tracking; Primavera P6 experience is a plus
Demonstrated success leading large, multidisciplinary teams
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Proven record of safety and compliance in complex field environments
