Job description

At SpectraCell, our approach goes beyond simply treating disease based on labels. Our flagship test, the Micronutrient Test, provides the most comprehensive nutritional analysis available by measuring functional deficiencies at the cellular level. It is an assessment of how well the body utilizes 31 vitamins, minerals, amino / fatty acids, antioxidants, and metabolites, while conveying the bodys need for these micronutrients that enable the body to produce enzymes, hormones, and other substances essential for proper growth, development, and good health.

We are searching for a National Business Development Director to join us in this journey. The incumbent is responsible for leading, deploying, developing, and overseeing the sales organization, managing sales processes, building distribution network, developing and cultivating client relationships, and growing revenues. The incumbent is responsible for developing the strategic sales plans based on company goals that will promote sales growth and customer satisfaction for the organization. Specific responsibilities include business development, market development sales growth and customer engagement. The incumbent is to work closely with the Marketing organization in gathering market intelligence as part of market research and in setting strategic direction for promotion and advertising.

Major Duties and Responsibilities :

Team Supervision :

  • Interviews and trains management-level and non-management level staff in the sales department.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the sales department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Sales Management :

  • Own and meet / exceed annual sales targets.
  • Establish, implement, and communicate the strategic direction of the organizations sales division.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on sales projects and systems.
  • Strategize related business opportunities to identify additional resources that would increase the company's revenue and profitability.
  • Network and develop strategic partnerships to gain client referrals and generate leads.
  • Partner with clients to understand their business needs and objectives.
  • Build account plans and strategies for each target account.
  • Achieve volume targets on new business. Regularly update and communicate progress to management.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
  • Implement sales effectiveness and efficiency programs to continuously improve sales productivity.
  • Conduct data and statistical analysis to determine pricing techniques, considering the availability of supplies and its market demands.
  • Ensure that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the organizations business plan and vision.
  • Establish, communicate, and implement sales related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution.
  • Accurately forecast sales activity and revenue achievement through monthly business reviews and weekly forecast sales calls.
  • Collaborate with other departments to carry out the organizations goals and objectives.
  • Understand the competitive landscape and market trends.
  • Review and approve cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects.
  • Establish and administer the departments budget.
  • Present periodic performance reports and metrics to the chief executive officer and other leadership.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in sales management.
  • Identify training needs and ensure proper training for sales team is developed and provided.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrated record of success at both small and large, complex organizations and in smaller resource-constrained environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage pricing, margins, and expenses to budget.
  • Successful track record of leading medical sales teams.
  • Education and Experience :

  • Bachelors degree in biotechnology or bio-related field required; MBA preferred.
  • At least 10 years of medical laboratory test-related experience including at least 5 years in sales management required.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 - 20 pounds at times.
