Machinist Journeyman - Swing Shift at Vigor Marine Group

Hourly rate : $38.68

Responsibilities

• Proficient on a milling machine, drill press, engine lathe, and vertical / horizontal boring mills.
• Complies with craft and shipyard safety and environmental measures.
• Takes direction and requires limited guidance to conduct assignments.
• Replaces defective parts on equipment, adjusts clearances and alignment of moving parts.
• Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
• Assemble and install equipment using hand tools / power tools.
• Position steel beams to support bedplates of machines and equipment, using blueprints and schematic drawings to determine procedures.
• Move machinery and equipment using chain hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
• Assemble machines and mount them to foundations or structures using hand and power tools.
• Lay out mounting holes accurately and drill to the proper size.
• Shrink-fit bushings, sleeves, rings, liners, gears, and wheels using specified methods.
• Knowledge of rigging and overhead crane operation, lifting device use, inspection, and load calculations.
• Operate a lathe to grind, file, or turn parts to dimensional specifications.
• Align pump and motors efficiently using dial indicators.
• Work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Communicate effectively; can work independently or in a group.
• Basic math; read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
• Read blueprints and assembly drawings; understand use of standard shop measuring tools.
