Machinist Journeyman - Swing Shift at Vigor Marine Group
Hourly rate : $38.68
Responsibilities
- Proficient on a milling machine, drill press, engine lathe, and vertical / horizontal boring mills.
- Complies with craft and shipyard safety and environmental measures.
- Takes direction and requires limited guidance to conduct assignments.
- Replaces defective parts on equipment, adjusts clearances and alignment of moving parts.
- Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
- Assemble and install equipment using hand tools / power tools.
- Position steel beams to support bedplates of machines and equipment, using blueprints and schematic drawings to determine procedures.
- Move machinery and equipment using chain hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
- Assemble machines and mount them to foundations or structures using hand and power tools.
- Lay out mounting holes accurately and drill to the proper size.
- Shrink-fit bushings, sleeves, rings, liners, gears, and wheels using specified methods.
- Knowledge of rigging and overhead crane operation, lifting device use, inspection, and load calculations.
- Operate a lathe to grind, file, or turn parts to dimensional specifications.
- Align pump and motors efficiently using dial indicators.
- Work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Communicate effectively; can work independently or in a group.
- Basic math; read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Read blueprints and assembly drawings; understand use of standard shop measuring tools.
Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or greater.5 years of relevant work experience preferred; proven skills may be substituted with applicable education or work history.Experience with micrometers, vernier scales, dial calipers, rulers, tapes, indicators, protractors, height gauges, and pi tapes.Proficiency with hand tools and machines listed in responsibilities.Education And / Or Experience
