We are seeking a Head Women’s Basketball Coach who will report to the Director for Student Engagement for Athletics & Recreation and execute program instruction, team practices, contests, travel, recruiting, student-athlete eligibility, and academic progress. The candidate must be of professional and high ethical standards when representing Passaic County Community College in addition to National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) rule compliance and other affiliations governing intercollegiate athletics. Example of duties may include and not limited to the following as Head Coach :
Example of Duties :
- Effectively recruit talented student-athletes in Passaic County, NJ and surrounding areas, record scores, statistical data, team information and relevant updates on required athletic websites, and transport student-athletes during scheduled road trips in the College Van.
- Obtain updated and valid physical records of student-athletes prior to basketball program participation.
- Supports student-athlete academic success by ensuring students are meeting the College’s academic progress expectations; provides and enforces appropriate interventions when there are signs of deficiency.
- Maintains positive relationships with high school coaches and basketball organizations to assist in recruiting prospective student-athletes.
- Collaborates with assistant coach to plan and direct the athletic team, assigning positions, preparing players for athletic competition, developing and implementing strategies to improve performance, and determining game strategy.
- Models and encourage leadership, sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive citizenship.
- Assists in verifying athlete eligibility prior to competition.
- Serves as the responsible party for student-athlete safety and conduct during all team athletic practices, games, events and activities and notifies the athletic director of any issues.
- Supports marketing and public relations efforts by providing game / athletic contest results in a timely manner, sharing student-athlete success stories, and promoting athletics in the community using forums such as social media.
- Oversees the maintenance and inventory of sports equipment and supplies.
- Participates in required functions and meetings deemed by the Athletic Director or Assistant Dean for Student Engagement
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Associates Degree or have at least 60 college credits from a regionally accredited College or University. A transcript will be required and Higher degree preferred.Candidate must have a schedule the allows flexibility for travel to away games throughout the sport seasonBasketball Coaching / Playing experience with proven success record.Combination of high school and / or 2–4-year college level coaching experience highly desiredPossess a valid drivers' license.Valid CPR / First Aid / AED certificationProven ability to effectively recruit student-athletes within and beyond Passaic CountyAbility to understand and apply sport compliance rules.Knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations most desired.The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.
Compensation : The stipend pay for this position is $10,000 for a full season.
