Medical Assistant
Serves as a subject matter expert for medical assistants in the practice. Performs a variety of medically related and clinical tasks by assisting providers with direct patient care.
Essential Functions
- Performs all intermediate Medical Assistant duties.
- Responsible for training new staff using organizational published policies, procedures, validation forms, standard work and may act as clinical preceptor.
- Serves as SME / resource to the dept. / unit / practice (e.g., EPIC SuperUser, Imms Champions, etc.).
- Responsible for surgical and procedural scheduling or panel management (depending on type of practice).
- Exhibits understanding and promotes the practice of safety, clinical and infection control standards.
- Ensures accuracy for electronic medical record chart prep.
- Ensures that processes and services are continuously monitored for quality, cost effectiveness and efficiency. Engages in process and quality improvement activities. Makes and implements recommendations to improve operational efficiency and to implement new services for areas of responsibility.
