Job description

GHR Healthcare is seeking a local contract nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a local contract nursing job in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)

We are seeking an experienced OR RN to join our Surgical Services team in a fast paced perioperative setting. The OR RN provides safe, high quality care for patients before, during, and after surgical procedures while supporting the surgical team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre op assessments, verify consents, and complete surgical safety checklists
  • Circulate in the OR, maintaining sterile field, patient positioning, and safety throughout procedures
  • Prepare room, equipment, supplies, and medications for scheduled cases
  • Assist the surgical team with intraoperative needs, specimen handling, and accurate counts
  • Monitor patient status during surgery and respond to changes or emergencies
  • Provide post op handoff and documentation in the EMR
  • Follow infection prevention, AORN standards, and facility policies

    • Requirements

  • Active RN license (state specific or compact)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent OR / Circulating RN experience in the same specialty
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred or ability to obtain
  • Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical procedures, and perioperative safety standards
  • Comfortable with high acuity cases, quick turnover, and on the spot problem solving
