ATTENTION ALASKA RESIDENTS!

The Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region Design, Engineering, and Construction is looking for an Engineering Associate to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

What you Will Be Doing

  • Serve as the on-site representative for the Contracting Officer, ensuring construction complies with plans, specs, policies, and safety standards.
  • Oversee contractor operations, inspect work, review submittals, and maintain detailed project records, testing, and documentation.
  • Administer complex construction contracts, manage project budgets, and lead project teams including Engineering Assistants and Technicians.
  • Coordinate with design staff, other agencies, and stakeholders to resolve issues, secure permits, and keep projects on track.
  • Mentor and evaluate staff while fostering a safe, collaborative work environment through training and regular oversight.

The Working Environment You Can Expect

This position is based in Fairbanks, Alaska as part of the Northern Region Construction Team. If you like variety, this role has it all. Some days youll be at your desk using computers and project tools to track progress, document findings, and collaborate with the team. Other days, youll be out in the field inspecting sites, operating equipment, and seeing firsthand how your work improves Alaskas infrastructure.

  • Special Notice

    This position requires a Valid drivers license upon hire.

    Eight years of progressively responsible work experience in engineering, land surveying or architecture, of which one year was as an Engineering Assistant 3 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.

    Substitution

    ABET accredited college or technical school courses in engineering, architecture, land surveying or a closely related curriculum may be substituted for the non-specific required experience (3 semester / 4 quarter hours equal one month). A bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET may substitute for four years of the non-specific required experience.
