Currently, we are in search of a dedicated Prep Cook to join our team and contribute to the continued success of Tierra Sur.
The Prep Cook is responsible for the preparation and setup of assigned menu items or station. This role ensures food is prepped according to standardized recipes and quality standards. The Prep Cook also assists with receiving deliveries, organizing supplies, and maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment. The ideal candidate must be able to follow instructions from Lead Cooks and Managers while working efficiently and safely.

Pay Range : $19.00 - $21.00
Knowledge / Skills : Must be able to read, count accurately, do simple math (add, subtract). Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers and coworkers. Must have basic knife skills, knowledge of kitchen equipment, and the ability to follow recipes. The ability to follow directions with emphasis on safety is extremely important. Able to operate the following kitchen equipment in a safe and proper manner : stoves, grills, fryers, and other utensils. Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods. Must be able to shift priorities easily.

Customer Service Skills :

Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal effectively across all levels of the business organization are necessary. Must have problem solving skills. The ability to maintain a professional and courteous relationship with employees, guests, vendors, etc. Meet deadlines and possess excellent, project management and decision-making skills.

The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to stand for extended periods of time for 10-hour shifts. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to forty (40) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. The worker is subject to Frequent exposure to smoke, steam, high temperatures, humidity and extreme cold. Frequently works with sharp knives and utensils.
