Registered Nurse- Operating Room (Permanent Role)

  • Location : Kansas City, MO 64101
  • Shift : 12-hr Day / Night
  • Job Type : Permanent
  • Guaranteed Hours : (36 hours / week)
  • Compensation : Based on experience (Negotiable)

Job Summary :

We are seeking a skilled Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse to join our dynamic surgical team. This permanent role offers self / preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance, fostering predictability in your work-life balance. Our culture emphasizes mutual respect and collaboration among surgical staff, along with continuous investment in equipment to ensure patient safety and workflow efficiency. On-call duties are required during select non-business hours.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Evaluate patients prior to surgery and provide patient / family education regarding the procedure and perioperative process.
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
  • Participate in surgical site verification processes, including briefing, time-out, debriefing, and adherence to universal protocols.
  • Recognize and respond promptly to patient emergencies.
  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while integrating evidence-based practices and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of an interdisciplinary surgical team, including providers, surgeons, and surgical technologists.
  • Consistently apply nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care.
  • Assess patient condition, monitor throughout the shift, and document changes along with care provided.
  • Educate patients and families / caregivers on medical condition, treatment, and follow-up measures.

    • Required Qualifications :

  • Experience : Minimum of 1 year of recent OR RN experience (Scrub / Circulating).
  • Licensure : Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Education : Registered Nurse Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certifications : Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
