CAPE, Inc. has a wonderful opportunity for several Full Time Teachers : 8 Infant / Toddler (Early Head Start (EHS) and 2 Preschool (Head Start (HS) in Livermore and Hayward areas
Eligible for Hiring Bonus!!!
- Position is Non-Exempt, Full Time (40 hours / week)
- Pay Rate : Commensurate with education and experience
Minimum $22.00 / hour w / no degree Maximum $28.16 / hour with 4-year degree ECD

CAPE, Inc. headquarters is in Livermore, and provides early childhood education services (Head Start and Early Head Start preschool programs) in Livermore, Dublin, Pleasanton, and Hayward areas. Position Overview : The Teacher works with children individually, and in small and large groups as part of the cooperative classroom team, assisting them in building confidence and increasing self-esteem.
Essential Functions :
Carry out the goals, policies, procedures and activities designed to implement CAPE,Inc. educational objectives, Head Start Performance Standards and CDE Regulations
Implement and plan a developmentally appropriate, emergent, anti-bias curriculum,obtaining input from parents and other staff which includes aspects of all relevant
Head Start State Preschool components
In collaboration with other staff and parents, develop and prepare lesson plansConduct effective circle timeMaintain a stimulating developmentally appropriate classroom environmentConduct assessments on all children; develop individual development plan for allchildren; conduct and record ongoing observations of children
Participate in evaluation sessions to review children’s progress and needs and reviseand update curriculum
Compile and maintain a portfolio to demonstrate growth and development of skills foreach child
Adhere to child abuse reporting requirementsEnsure that children with exceptional needs are fully included in all program activitiesConduct home visits for Head Start and EHS children (minimum twice yearly)Conduct Parent-Teacher conferences (minimum twice yearly)Maintain effective and professional relationships with enrolled familiesEncourage parent involvement in all phases of the programServe and supervise meals and snacksConduct point of service meal countsClean and sanitize all food preparation and eating areas, and adhere to all food safety guidelinesMeet food handling and safety requirementsEnsure that snacks and meals are served “family style” with an adult seated at thetable with children
Diapering and toileting childrenEnsure proper storage of food on daily and weekly basisMaintenance and upkeep of the classroom, the children and the siteEffective classroom managementObservance and application of safety practices at all timesRequirements :
Qualifications and Requirements
BA or AA degree in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Development ora BA / AA in another field with 24 units in ECE / ECD (including CORE classes)
3 units in Infant Toddler with an Associate degree (preferred)California Teacher PermitPossession of a valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation and valid vehicleinsurance
