Job Title : Material Handler Job Description

The Material Handler / Receiving Associate is responsible for efficiently receiving, inspecting, and organizing raw materials, components, and finished goods for a fencing manufacturing facility. This role ensures accurate inventory control, timely material flow to production, and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

Unload incoming shipments and verify quantities against purchase orders.

Inspect materials for damage or defects and report discrepancies.

Accurately record received materials in the inventory system.

Maintain organized storage areas for raw materials and finished goods.

Safely move materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.

Stage materials for production according to work orders.

Complete receiving logs and maintain accurate records.

Communicate shortages, overages, or quality issues to the supervisor.

Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines.

Ensure proper handling of hazardous materials when applicable.

Essential Skills

Prior experience operating a forklift.

Warehouse and general labor experience.

Material handling and kitting skills.

Ability to provide appropriate customer service when needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Must be open to working in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Ability to wear full rain gear and load flatbed trailers in the rain.

Punctuality, including adhering to breaks and lunch schedules.

Team-oriented with the ability to follow direction from supervisors and trainers.

Proactive in cleaning, organizing, and counting during downtime.

Prepared for increased duties during inventory season.

Work Environment

The work environment includes large warehouses with multiple buildings, requiring movement of parts between them. The position involves working both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clackamas, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00 / hr.
