Oncology RN Job Details

Location : New Haven, Connecticut 06510

Healthcare Setting : Short Term Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center

Unit : Oncology – Smilow East

Assignment Length : 13 weeks (Start : 12 / 19 / 2025 – End : 3 / 20 / 2026)

Nursing Shift : 4x12-hour day shifts (07 : 00 – 19 : 00), every other weekend required

Hours per Week : 36

Guaranteed Hours : Yes

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1880-$2020

Charting System : Epic

Scrub Color : Royal Blue

Parking : Onsite, $125 / month

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Connecticut nursing license required (pending accepted if active by start date)

Minimum 2 years of recent Oncology RN experience (1.5 years accepted with Level I Trauma or travel nurse experience)

BLS certification required

Proficiency with Epic charting system

Clinical skills in port access, central line blood draws, PCA pump management, and telemetry oncology

Ability to float to similar oncology units as needed

Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)

At least 1 professional reference required

Not accepting local candidates (must reside more than 75 miles from facility)

Oncology Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult oncology patients, including those with sickle cell, medical oncology, and telemetry needs

Manage ports and central lines for oncology patients

Administer medications and manage PCA pumps

Monitor and document patient status using Epic electronic health records

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Social Services, Pharmacy, and more

Maintain patient ratios of 1 : 4-5

Participate in weekend rotations (every other weekend)

Float to similar oncology units as required
