About The Position

Experience : Minimum of 2 years required in a large, urban hospital

License : Active Registered Nurse License in the state of practice required

Certifications : BLS required; ACLS and CPI preferred

Must-Have :

• 2 years of prior experience required
• Must be comfortable taking care of a behavioral health patient population
• EPIC charting experience required
• Drip management experience required

Description :

This position is for a Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit.

The unit has 20 beds for general medical surgical and telemetry patients.

Patients may include those with knee and hip replacements, orthopedic cases, pulmonary issues, sepsis, GI, endocrine, cardiac, renal, and psychiatric illnesses.

The unit is split across two floors.

The patients on the secured floor may have underlying behavioral health conditions that can be flagged as violent.

Travelers receive training for safety and de-escalation.

Ratios are typically 1 : 5 during the day and 1 : 6 at night.

Night ratios can occasionally be 1 : 7, although this is rare.

Travelers may float within their scope to meet facility needs.

Weekend shifts require working four weekends out of eight possible in a four-week period.

Travelers must work two out of three major holidays.

RTO (Requested Time Off) requests must be submitted with the application.

Up to two weeks of RTO may be permitted.

Travelers must exhibit proficiency in special procedures, including drip management for various medications.

Experience with different types of patients ranging from adolescents to geriatrics is required.

Travelers must comply with a 100% nicotine-free policy.

Applicants must have experience in acute care settings.
