Overview
Youth Development Professional at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley. Location : Agoura Hills (Catlin Club, Lindero Middle School). Schedule : Monday through Friday, 1 : 00 PM – 6 : 00 PM. Employment Type : Full-time. Pay range : $18.00–$19.00 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Supportive Environment Creation : Assist in creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for children and youth attending Boys & Girls Clubs programs.
- Supervision and Guidance : Provide supervision, guidance, and positive reinforcement to children and youth participating in club activities, ensuring their well-being and promoting positive behavior.
- Activity Planning and Implementation : Help plan and implement age-appropriate activities, programs, and projects that foster educational, recreational, and social development.
- Engagement and Participation : Encourage active engagement and participation, facilitating opportunities for learning, exploration, and skill development in areas such as arts and crafts, sports, STEM, and character development.
- Behavior Management : Utilize effective behavior management techniques to address challenges and maintain a positive atmosphere.
- Collaboration and Communication : Work with staff, volunteers, and community partners to coordinate activities and communicate about program logistics and participant needs.
- Role Modeling : Demonstrate integrity, empathy, respect, and responsibility in interactions with members and staff.
- Safety and Emergency Response : Follow safety protocols and emergency procedures, addressing safety concerns promptly.
- Professional Development : Participate in training sessions and development opportunities provided by the organization.
- Documentation and Reporting : Accurately document attendance, incidents, and observations as required by policy.
- Community Engagement : Engage with families and caregivers to support holistic development of members both inside and outside the club.
- Adaptability : Adjust programming as needed to meet diverse needs and changing circumstances.
Qualifications
Understanding of youth development principles, especially in elementary / middle school settings.Experience in conducting and managing group activities for children.Experience with behavior management techniques for children.Passion for the organization's mission and goals.Knowledge of engagement strategies suitable for children.Reliability, flexibility, and ability to serve as a positive role model.Active participation in onboarding and training; openness to coaching and ongoing learning.Minimum 1–3 years of experience working with children in group settings.Note : All applicants are required to undergo a mandatory fingerprint background check and TB testing where applicable. Clearance from references may be required. Initial clearance is needed prior to employment and refresh certification is required every four years.
