Purpose & Scope
The Regional Key Account Lead (RKAL) is responsible for driving the strategic direction and execution of Astellas\' products across designated brands in assigned key accounts. This high-impact role involves generating demand and market growth through effective account management, contract execution, and pull-through strategies. The RKAL defines and delivers engagement strategies across the internal team to drive market share, expand Astellas\' presence, and build long-term customer relationships. As the primary contact for senior executives and top KOLs within target accounts, the RKAL develops and executes customer-centric business plans and solutions that enhance access to Astellas\' therapies. The role requires cross-functional collaboration to inform strategic decisions that elevate Astellas\' market position and patient outcomes. The RKAL shapes opportunities and drives results that support organizational goals and customer needs.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Own the development and execution of account-specific strategies that integrate market insights, customer needs, and Astellas\' objectives to drive measurable business results.
- Coordinate with matrix internal teams (market access, sales, marketing, contracting) to orchestrate account engagement and develop tailored plans and solutions that maximize market access.
- Lead executive-level engagement with key stakeholders (e.g., C-suite executives, Pharmacy Directors) to foster strong relationships and shape critical business opportunities within the assigned region.
- Lead and execute contract pull-through initiatives to meet and exceed objectives; monitor performance to ensure growth and alignment with strategic goals.
- Leverage market dynamics and customer decision-making processes to proactively identify and address business challenges with actionable solutions.
- Lead process to identify and elevate real-time account-level learnings to inform strategic decision-making.
- Monitor the competitive landscape and evolving customer needs to provide timely feedback to leadership and refine strategies that position Astellas as a leader in oncology and ophthalmology care.
- Work within the Organizational Context and cross-functional teams to drive opportunities and outcomes for key accounts including Oncology, Urology, and retina practices as applicable.
- Maintain high levels of accountability for achieving objectives and driving business performance through proactive account management.
Qualifications
10+ years of pharmaceutical or equivalent business experience with a strong track record in account management or leadership roles (5+ years in a senior capacity).3+ years of experience in relevant therapeutic areas (ophthalmology / retina, oncology / urology).Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans that drive business outcomes.Strong negotiation, analytical, and business acumen to navigate complex customer environments and optimize contract execution.Exceptional ability to build relationships based on trust and influence with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders.Track record of success in contract and sales growth, with accountability for objectives.Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; ability to lead and influence at all levels.High-level organizational and project management skills to manage multiple complex projects across timelines.Bachelor\'s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or related field.Ability to travel >50% of the time and maintain a valid driver\'s license.
Ability to travel on weekends as needed for strategic events (conferences, summits, etc.).Preferred
Experience with GPOs, contract negotiations, and pull-through initiatives.Track record of effective cross-functional team leadership without direct authority.Working Environment
Field-based within the assigned geographical region.Must be willing to travel up to 70% of the time including overnight travel.Compensation & Benefits
Compensation Range : $155,000 - $222,000 (final salary based on experience). Flexible grade level based on candidate background and skillset.
