A. BASIC PURPOSE

The position is responsible for ensuring the care, safety and wellbeing of shelter participants residing at the Depot Family Crisis Center.

B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Oversee daily operations of shelter residence & kitchen

2. Assist the Residential Programs Director in coordinating the shelter residence office and Shelter Support Staff

3. Conduct onboarding and orientation of new shelter participants

4. Coordinate and monitor daily / weekly chores for shelter participants

5. Conduct and monitor routine participant substance testing

6. Develop and coordinate a chore manual; and provide routine chore trainings

7. Train Shelter Support on the use of substance testing equipment

8. Coordinate room assignments and daily room inspections

9. Train and supervise kitchen assistants

10. Prepare, cook and serve meals

11. Order, inventory and manage food products, equipment and supplies

12. Monitor shelter for safety, security and cleanliness

13. Conduct weekly house meetings and maintain meeting minutes

14. Serve on the Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) team

15. Participate in weekly shelter care meetings

16. Participate in program and agency trainings as assigned

17. Maintain and monitor shelter logs

18. Maintain accurate participant records in various information management systems; and generate reports as requested

19. Maintain and execute confidential information according to HIPPA standards

20. Maintain a highly detailed and organized filling system

21. Ensure shelter utilizes mental health first aid, harm reduction and housing first principles

22. Check and respond to emails and voicemails on a regular basis

23. Adhere to confidentiality standards

24. Other duties as assigned

C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

1. Knowledge of, and familiarity with, homeless services and social services.

2. Ability to speak and write the English language at a high and professional level

3. High degree of confidentiality

4. Computer literate in Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel and Outlook preferred

5. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

6. Excellent and professional telephone etiquette and presence

7. High degree of organizational skills

8. Approach problem solving creatively

9. Strong ability to utilize a high level of time management and handling multiple tasks

D. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

1. High school diploma or equivalent

2. A minimum of 2 year’s work experience in social services, food services, property management or human services

3. ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification, accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)

4. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle

5. Must be 21 years or older

6. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training

7. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check.

E. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis

2. Ability to grasp, push, and / or pull objects

3. Ability to reach overhead

4. Ability to operate telephone

5. Ability to lift up to 25-40 lbs.

6. Ability to operate a computer

7. Ability to process written, visual, and / or verbal information

8. Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.
