Portfolio Lead
The Portfolio Lead will manage the Hometown Communities portfolio of grant partners and giving initiatives. The candidate will work in a very fast-paced environment and deal extensively with the local facilities, manufacturing, public policy, sustainability, and innovation and growth teams within the organization. They will interact with external stakeholders and various community organizations, and therefore must be professional and poised, and have good judgment in dealing with a broad spectrum of activities and situations.
What You'll Do :
- Lead the execution of GM's Community Impact Grant Program, a giving initiative that drives philanthropic investments into the communities where GM operates.
- Assist facilities with the identification and solicitation of prospective grantees
- Review and process grant applications
- Monitor funded projects, progress toward impact and manage grant reporting
- Manage additional giving initiatives with employee resource groups (ERGs) and community dealer development teams
- Develop strategy and growth plan to increase philanthropic giving in the international markets where GM operates.
- Research and understand charitable giving needs as well as international giving regulations to determine local strategies
- Recommend strategically aligned organizations for grant consideration
- Conceptualize a signature program that can be implemented across multiple international markets
- Maintain global knowledge of philanthropy and international benchmarking trends
- Coordinate GM's disaster readiness / response, with primary responsibility for philanthropic giving.
- Support partnership and sponsorship activations in GM's hometown of Detroit.
- Serve as a local giving philanthropy subject matter expert for the company.
- Integrate local giving philanthropy into larger corporate citizenship strategies.
Operational Requirements :
Leverage existing CyberGrants system to receive and evaluate grant applicationsBuild and manage relationships among grant partnersDevelop and maintain supplemental documents and budget for giving initiativesManage responses to general inquiries and grant application status with external organizations in a timely mannerAssist with production and quality control of outgoing work products, e.g. briefings, plans, budgets, communications materials, surveys, requests for proposals, and presentations; help draft, edit and format Word, Excel and PowerPoint outputs.Work on short term and ongoing projects with a variety of teams within GM including but not limited to the DEI, manufacturing, public policy, sustainability, and innovation and growth teams within the organization.Help plan, prepare for, and run stakeholder working sessions on strategy development and implementation.Communications :
Develop portfolio communication strategy / roadmap to highlight social investments and related activationsWrite programmatic overviews, develop reports for various levels of leadershipWork with the GM communications team to draft speeches and internal / external storiesServe as an internal and external local giving philanthropy spokespersonRelationship Management :
Collaborate with other portfolio leads to leverage work across the grantmaking portfolioCollaborate with employee volunteerism team to develop and post employee engagement opportunities related to grant activationsFunction as a point of contact for, and prioritize ongoing tasks related to the Hometown Communities grantmaking portfolioCollaborate with product and brand teams on local giving philanthropy to support their programsPartner with Data & Analytics team to integrate the company's local giving efforts into the team's corporate reputation researchYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) :
Bachelor's Degree5+ years in philanthropy, policy, nonprofit management, or leading complex initiatives or portfolios in any sector e.g., corporate, tech, consultingExperience designing and managing complex initiatives with multiple stakeholders.Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate qualitative and quantitative data.Exceptional relationship management, communication, and presentation skills.Excellent research and analytical skills.Experience or knowledge within CSR, ESG nonprofit organizations or corporate grantmakingExperience executing multi-million-dollar funding strategiesExperience or knowledge of international grantmakingKnowledge of the role of corporate responsibility in a corporate cultureMust be highly proficient in working with web-based contributions / grants management systems for administering philanthropic contributionsStrong planning, project management, financial, administrative, and organizational skills; attention to detail a mustExperience with presenting, coordinating, and organizing meetings or workshopsProactive with ability to work independently and as part of a team making informed decisions in a complex and fast-paced environmentAbility to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines, proven ability to multi-taskAble to work across business functions to achieve enterprise-wide resultsWhat Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) :

The salary range for this role is $102,000 $135,900. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.Bonus Potential : An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.Benefits : GM offers a variety of health and wellbeing benefit programs.
