About The Position
Job Title : Respiratory Therapist

License : Current state Licensure (RLT) in applicable state of employment
Certifications : Must have CRT by NBRC. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Must-Have : Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Education Program
Description :
Perform respiratory procedures under physician direction in all patient areas.
Responsible for patient assessments, care plans, implementation, evaluation, and revision of therapy plans as needed.
Collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes.
Utilize knowledge of patient age and cultural diversity in the provision of patient care.
Support the organization’s vision and mission and practice performance improvement techniques to assure effective patient care delivery.
Deliver respiratory care procedures to patients in general, acute, critical care, and emergency areas according to departmental policies and procedures.
Perform therapeutic modalities including patient monitoring, medication delivery, ventilation management, expansion therapy, and bronchial hygiene.
Conduct diagnostic testing including ABGs, PFTs, EKGs, cardiac assessments, bronchoscopy, and pulse oximetry.
Assist in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency care by providing airway maintenance and management, cardiac support, and other assistance as needed.
Respond to patient needs in a timely and effective manner.
Provide patient and family education and teaching.
Transport patients within the facility or between facilities.
Develop care plans from thorough assessments via protocol criteria or directed physician orders.
Document all patient care activities including evaluations, progress notes, and detailed treatment records per standards of practice, legal requirements, and regulatory / third-party payer requirements.
Document ongoing status, interventions, patient responses, and outcomes to correctly capture charges.
Coordinate and communicate effectively with all patients, families, staff, physicians, and other customers concerning respiratory therapy services through direct verbal and written communication, respecting confidentiality at all times.
Demonstrate technical and interpersonal problem-solving skills.
Determine the proper function of all equipment used and intervene as needed.
Anticipate, recognize, and assist others in identifying patient complications and reactions related to respiratory care.
Demonstrate effective time management and prioritize workload to meet productivity requirements.
Adapt to rapidly changing technologies, policies, regulations, census, and staffing through priority setting and flexibility.
Participate in personal, professional, and program development by attending department in-services and sharing professional expertise to enhance the quality of professional services and staff development.
Assist in training respiratory therapy staff, students, and other personnel.
Act as a resource for new staff members and co-workers by sharing information and providing education.
