Development Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision and direction of the Development Director, the Development Coordinator assists with fund raising activities and develops and maintains relationships with donors and prospective donors for PPDE. This position coordinates the volunteer program by developing volunteer activities, growing its base, and leveraging volunteers to participate in grassroots activities, community outreach, patient support, education and training, development and other departments. Under the direction of the Development Director, this position is responsible for maintaining the donor database and working with committees to advance the vision of PPDE. The Development Coordinator supports the External Affairs department and provides input on all fundraising initiatives including, but not limited to : planned giving, special events, major gifts, sponsorships, grant writing, donor cultivation, and donor acquisition. Under the direction of the Development Director this position is responsible for identifying, organizing, and coordinating the fundraising activities of PPDE to increase support from individuals, corporations, faith-based communities, public organizations, and private organizations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Under the direction of the Development Director coordinates all aspects of Agency donor database, including report generation, design, and analysis.
2. Reconciles monthly donations in collaboration with Finance Department and under the direction of the Development Director.
3. With direction from Development Director manages aspects of Annual Campaign, including producing donor lists, identifying major donors, enlisting board members for personal solicitation, identifying lapsed & potential donors, and tracking responses.
4. Assists the Development Director by supporting in the management of : fundraising events, venue selection, securing sponsorships, coordinating committee activities, organizing / supervising volunteers and providing oversight of expenses and revenue.
5. In collaboration with the Development Director and Public Affairs Manager the Development Coordinator creates invitations, posters, or other information for Agency events, activities and fundraising projects.
6. Supports Development Director in donor cultivation activities through giving history analysis, recommending approaches to specific donors, & donor groups providing prospect research and meeting with donors.
7. With direction for the Development Direction cultivates a pool of beginning level, monthly, and mid-level donors through frequent communication and meetings to increase donations.
8. Coordinates all aspects of Agency bulk mailing related to Development and Public Affairs.
9. Under the direction of the Development Director, executes the production of monthly e-newsletter, email solicitations and communications, and other Agency publications to donors / supporters in order to recruit new supporters and to increase online engagement (e.g. activism / donations) among existing donors.
10. Responsible for circulating approved materials to be used in Development aspects of social media for PPDE.
11. Assists Development Director in implementing annual department work plan and budget.
12. Assist in Agency operations by actively participating as directed by the Development Director in volunteer committees, interacting and communicating with Board and donors to encourage financial support, managing and supervising volunteer projects for Development Department, working with other staff members to achieve Agency goals and back-up for mail processing and cash log production.
13. In coordination with the Development Director and the Vice President of Human Resources; recruit, screen, orient, train (as appropriate) and place volunteers and interns as needed throughout the agency. Maintain volunteer position descriptions and records and evaluate success of volunteer programs.
14. Abide by the mission of Planned Parenthood of Delaware.
15. Performs other related duties as required.

Education and / or Experience
1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
2. Bachelors Degree in Non-profit Administration / Management, Social Work, or Liberal Arts or previous experience in communications / marketing preferred.
3. Experience working with donor databases, Microsoft Office preferred.
4. Fundraising / donor relations experience preferred.
5. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
6. Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and organize large quantities of information and materials.
7. Project management skills required.
8. Detail oriented.
9. Familiarity with social media.
Reasoning Ability
Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in various formats required. Ability to multi-task and to work effectively under pressure due to conflicting demands required. Must be flexible, highly organized, creative, and detail-oriented with the ability to set and meet deadlines.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret periodicals, professional journals, procedure manuals and technical procedures. Ability to write reports, procedure manuals and correspondence. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, listening and interpersonal relationship communication skills. Must be able to communicate clearly and interact comfortably with a diverse group of patients, staff, and volunteers in a non-judgmental, professional, and sensitive manner.
Mathematical Skills
Must possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Computer Skills
Excellent keyboarding skills with a high level of accuracy required. Proficiency in internet usage and Microsoft Outlook helpful. Must possess capacity to learn software programs required for specific position along with electronic communications, including email, Intranet, social media and Internet.
Physical Demands
All the position functions listed within this position description involve to greater and lesser degree the following physical demands : close vision; hearing / listening; clear speech; walking; lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds; stooping; kneeling; bending; sitting; standing; and use of hands to finger, handle, and feel when using various pieces of equipment. The physical demands are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
Work Environment

7. Performs Agency duties at various sites, so a valid driver license or otherwise ability to provide own reliable transportation is required.
$21 - $25 an hour
