About The Position

Job Title : Respiratory Therapist 1

Profession : Respiratory Care

Specialty : Agency Staff

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Nights

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : Minimum of 2 years

License : State of Michigan Respiratory Therapist License (must have in hand prior to start date)

Certifications : RRT, NRP, BLS, ACLS

Must-Have : Must live within one hour of the facility

Description :

Applies scientific knowledge and therapy to practical clinical problems of respiratory care.

As a team member in the delivery of respiratory services, and under medical direction, performs a wide range of procedures related to the care of patients with general and specialized respiratory-related needs, including those in pediatric areas.

Evaluates to determine respiratory care needs and makes appropriate recommendations and changes according to policy and protocol guidelines.

Assesses effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to department and legal / regulatory standards.

Completes and documents required education and competencies within designated timeframe.

Maintains competency in areas of accountability.

Ensures accurate and timely completion of all necessary documentation.

Facilitates smooth transitions for patients to appropriate referral services, home, and provides education to patients and families related to respiratory issues.

Instructs and trains other respiratory care staff and medical personnel regarding patient needs and respiratory care services.

Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigation measures where appropriate.

Completes all position and unit safety-related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.

Performs other duties as assigned.
